    Description

    A fabulous set of English Georgian Old Sheffield Plate dinner plates dating to c.1830.
    Each is lucky enough to have been engraved with the original owner's heraldic crown, these would have belonged to a Viscount.  Being Old Sheffield plate to enable the engraving of these crowns it would have been inset with solid sterling silver then engraved; on each of the plates you will see a shadow where the sterling silver panels were inset.
    The shaped plates have raised border decoration having been hand chased.
    Minor wear to the plate with some copper showing on high spots, perfectly normal for period Old Sheffield Plate.
    A lovely find and in excellent condition each measuring 10" in diameter x 1 1/4" deep.
