MASSIVE Old Karen Hill Tribe Bronze Elephant Bell 19th Century
This is a fantastic opportunity to own a MASSIVE old Karen Hill Tribe bronze elephant bell. This bell was formerly used on a massive bull elephant by Karen Hill Tribe mahouts. Bull elephants of the size required to use this bell are very rare nowadays as almost all the elephants in Northern Thailand have been moved to elephant conservation centers or tourist entertainment centers. Formerly they had been used by Karen and other hill tribes for tasks such as clearing land, etc. This is not a reproduction, it is an authentic Karen elephant bell that was used by real elephant. To the Karen people, elephants are revered creatures. According to Karen folk lure, keeping such a bell that was used by an elephant in one's home will ensure good luck and prosperity for the family living in that dwelling. I have included a brief history of the Karen People below.
Dimensions: Approx 28 inches X 20 inches X 6 inches with stand. Bell alone is approx 20 inches X 12 inches X 6 inches (can be seen in the photos above.)
WEIGHT: BELL ALONE WEIGHS APPROX 16.5 KILOS, STAND WEIGHS APPROX 7.5 KILOS.

NOTE: THE CLAPPER IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THIS BELL. ELEPHANT BELLS OF THIS SIZE NORMALLY USE WOODEN CLAPPERS AND THEY WEAR OUT OVER THE YEARS AND ARE USUALLY NOT AVAILABLE. THIS BELL COMES WITH A SEPARATE WOODEN MALLET STRIKER THAT CAN BE USED LIKE A GONG.
