Jane Fauntz, California Pottery Little Boy and Puppy in Chair Vintage 1940's

$ 7.91

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

This is such a typical pose: boy flops into the overstuffed chair with his puppy. The potter was Jane Fauntz who was also an Olympic Bronze Medalist (springboard diving) in 1932 as well as being on the swim team in 1928. She turned to pottery and went into business on her own in 1940. This piece is marked in two places. It is impressed "J.F." as seen in the last photo and the little brown label carries her name "Jane Fauntz". The obvious problem is the lack of yellow glaze on the chair skirting and there is another tiny spot near the base on the other chair corner. You will note a white dot on the right wrist of his green shirt; it is lack of color under the glaze. No cracks, crazing, or mends. Please check photos.
