Silicone
mold making materials are used extensively to create molds that will produce
exact
replicas of life castings and other objects used in special effects, taxidermy, and craft making. Unlike some silicone's IES25 is not inhibited (
restrained or prevented from setting up
) by latex or sulfur based products like oil based clay.
Our silicone mold making compounds consist of two components. A liquid base and a catalyst or curing compound.
When evaluating these materials for your projects, think in 'weight', not 'volume' measurements.
All products are sold by weight.

Materials Recommended:
Digital Gram or Digital Postage Scale
Mixing Containers
Stir Sticks Such as Tongue Depressors
Latex or Nitrile Gloves (Silicone is Sticky)
MIXING
Because pigments can settle during storage, Catalyst should be thoroughly stirred before mixing.
Use separate
tools for mixing the base and catalyst to avoid cross contamination.
Accurate weighing is essential to obtain maximum physical properties from the cured silicone.
Add the catalyst to the base and mix until the color is uniform.
Low-shear mixing of the mixture is recommended.
Use clean tools and scrape the bottom and sides of the
container to assure a homogeneous mixture.
CURING
IES25 Silicone will cure sufficiently in 3 hours at room temperature (72°F) to be handled.
IES25
will
reach 90% of ultimate cure in 12 hours at room temperature. For full cure an additional 1 day at room temperature
is required.
STORAGE and HANDLING
IES25 Silicone will remain useful for six months when stored in the original unopened containers at temperatures below 80°F (27°C).
IES25 Silicone is sensitive to moisture. Keep containers covered.
