Chrome Wicker Baby Cradle Carrier Basket Hospital Transport 1940s RARE

Description

This is a great piece of American History.  I was told from a nurse that this was used for transporting infants to and from the hospital back in the day in the 1940's.  It is a extremely sturdy/sound wicker basket, reinforced with a metal chrome tubing and handles, actually woven into the basket or should I say wicker woven around the metal.  This then could be picked up and carried to where ever you wanted to go.  It rests in a metal chrome bracket that was bolted to the transports floor to ensure it would not topple over en route.  Was raised enough that hot bricks could be layed under to help keep the child warm during the ride.  Possibly may have been in ambulances, anyway a medical transport of some kind.
This is extremely RARE, and a awesome piece to showcase, whether it be in your home for your child, a old hospital transport vehicle being restored back to original form or in a museum.
Measures 35"l x 16"w x 18"h
The inner material is like a vinyl, ridged of sorts, that could be easily cleaned, and in good condition.  This material is one with the wicker, and cannot be removed or separated from the wicker.
This is in great shape considering age and usage.  Does show signs of usage.  Some scuffs on the metal and some minor pitting.  The handles show moreso than the rest, and could be shinned up nicely.  The interior fabric/vinyl/material has some slight discoloration, however it is fully the same color/pattern throughout, despite what it looks like in the photos.  The wicker shows usage and rub marks throughout.  mostly from the top edges, and where it rests in the metal bracket below.  Bottom wood shows rub marks from the screws it sits on, but sits snugly.
Just remember while it is in good condition, great really, it has been used.  With all that being said, it looks so much better in real life than what the photos show, if you ask me.
